“IPSWICH GOES GREEN” FESTIVAL SET FOR JULY 12th

Ipswich will celebrate its commitment to environmental sustainability on Sunday, July 12th by showcasing the “green” activities of local people, businesses and municipal departments.   From 1 to 5 pm, downtown Ipswich and the Riverwalk will be filled with demonstrations and exhibits. Special attractions will include a Seafood Throwdown sponsored by Cape Ann Fresh Catch – two Ipswich chefs will compete in an ultimate seafood cookoff, judged by Ipswich celebrities – while other local farms, fishers, and food producers share information about their products and sustainable practices. Children can look forward to the Ipswich Goes Green mini-golf course, specially designed for the day with recycled and natural materials. On Memorial Green, visitors can view a 21st century shelter, featuring renewable energy systems and reclaimed materials, beside a 17th century settler’s home – an exhibit that illustrates the architectural, cultural and environmental changes that have spanned Ipswich’s 375-year history. Additional attractions include panel discussions, vendors of local and organic products, and live music by Miranda Russell, Greenhead and Chameleon. For more information, visit www.ipswichgoesgreen.org or www.ipswichma375.org. Sponsored by New England Biolabs, the event is free to the public.
