Green Mini-Golf Project
Call to artists, architects, tinkerers – design and build a miniature golf course hole and win a 1-month CSA share at Appleton Farms for 2010!
We are holding a design contest for artists, architects, tinkerers and teams with a lot of energy – to create a green miniature golf course hole for the public to use and enjoy. This will be a part of the Ipswich Goes Green Festival, to be held on July 12th, 2009 (rain or shine). This event is free to the public.
Your bring the art, we supply the rest!
Themes for the golf holes should be related to environmental preservation. If you have questions about your topic, don’t hesitate to ask for help. Materials used need to be recycled and/or natural. The artist(s) are responsible for set-up, monitoring their hole from 1-5pm on the event day, and breakdown of their holes. Set-up can begin on Saturday, June 11th. Holes may be moved to a more permanent location after this event. Golf balls, putters, map and score card will be provided for you.
Creativity and quality are key to winning a prize. Also, have a ton of fun, while creating artwork that will delight and educate the public. For some inspiration, here is a version of this concept created at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis.
If you are a local business that has a team of builders, you can use your logo in the design of the hole. Please make sure that the environmental message is not overpowered by a marketing one. We want to celebrate our local businesses, but do not want this art installation to appear too commercial.
